There are many ways to access the health care you need, when you need it. “If you don’t have time for an in-office appointment, or if you would prefer to receive your prescriptions by mail, we’re seeing more and more options that can
help relieve stress by adding more convenience,” explains Don Truong, director of sales at Sharp Health Plan.
It’s always a good idea to check with your doctor and review your Member
Handbook for time-saving options when you need to get care. Here are five tips to help you get started:
Online portals
Most doctors’ offices offer secure online patient portals, such as FollowMyHealth®,
to give you 24/7 access to view test results, send and receive messages from your doctor, and more. Sharp Health Plan also has an online portal called Sharp Connect where you can review your covered health benefits, change
your primary care physician, request a new member ID card and more. We also offer our Payment Portal for members to easily and securely make their monthly premium
payments online, set up automatic payments and view their balance due.
Video and phone visits
If you have a medical concern or follow-up appointment and you’d like to save a trip to the doctor’s office, video or phone visits are helpful options. Before scheduling a video or phone appointment, please visit your plan medical group’s website for the latest telehealth service information.
Same-day, next-day and after-hours care
Some doctors may provide same-day and next-day appointments, as well as weekend and evening visits. Contact your doctor’s office to learn more. For more assistance, free after-hours advice from registered nurses is available through Sharp Nurse
Connection
®. Our trained nurses can give immediate counsel on your health concerns and can help you decide where to seek further care if needed. Call 1-800-359-2002 from 5 pm to 8 am, Monday to Friday,
and 24 hours a day on weekends.
MinuteClinic
If you need treatment for a minor illness or injury, you can visit a MinuteClinic®. These walk-in medical clinics are located inside select CVS Pharmacy stores and offer care from nurse practitioners and physician assistants. MinuteClinic locations are open seven days a week, including evenings.
Please note: Video visits with MinuteClinic are not a covered benefit.
Medication by mail
Skip a trip to the pharmacy and receive your prescriptions
by mail with our pharmacy partner, CVS
Caremark®. With programs like 90-day refills by mail, you’ll always have your medications on hand.
