It’s time to renew your health insurance

How you renew will depend on whether you purchase your health coverage directly from us or through Covered California®.

Directly from Sharp Health Plan

The time period to renew or make changes to your health coverage for 2021 is from Nov. 1, 2020 to Jan. 31, 2021.

  • Sharp Health Plan will automatically re-enroll you and members of your household into your current health coverage for 2021 as long as you remain eligible and your plan is still available for 2021.

    If you’re happy with your current health coverage, no action is required.

    To make changes to your coverage for 2021, keep the following dates in mind:

  • You’ll continue to receive your monthly bill from Sharp Health Plan. Please pay your premium (monthly cost) directly to Sharp Health Plan by the due date. Please do not send your payment to Covered California.

    ⚠️ Are you using auto pay for your premium payments?

    Be sure to update your payment portal information with your new 2021 premium amount before Dec. 25, 2020. This will ensure that your payments are accurate and on time and prevent any disruptions in your coverage.
  • Plans purchased directly from Sharp Health Plan do not allow you to receive financial assistance to lower your premiums or out-of-pocket costs. Beginning Nov. 1, you can use Covered California's Shop and Compare tool to see if you qualify for premium assistance. Even if you were not eligible for financial assistance in the past, you may be eligible to lower your monthly premium next year.

I’m receiving premium assistance for my health coverage this year.

Update your information with Covered California to ensure you get the maximum premium assistance that you qualify for. The premium assistance you receive in 2021 could be different based on changes in your household size, income and the health coverage rates in your area.

🔎 A heads-up for tax season

If you received premium assistance in 2020, you’ll need to file IRS Form 8962 along with your federal tax return. During tax season, Covered California will send you the information you need to file the form correctly.
