What is open enrollment?
Open enrollment is the annual, three-month period set by the state of California when people can enroll in a health insurance plan. You will first receive a confirmation email and letter via mail from Covered California. Please note that if you haven't received a confirmation email from Covered California, your application may not be complete. You can expect a slight delay from the time you apply to the time Covered California shares your completed application with us.
When: 5–7 days after application is approved
This is the first letter you will receive from Sharp Health Plan. It will arrive by mail. If you have already made your first payment, you will not need to take any further action.
When: Mid- to late-December or January, depending on your plan start
Your welcome kit will include your Member Resource Kit and your specific summaries of benefits. This will be your guide to accessing care, what to do in an emergency, and prescription drug benefits. After you make your first payment, you can expect your kit to arrive about two or three weeks before your plan start.
Member ID cards are mailed two per envelope. If your plan includes three or more family members, cards will be mailed in pairs separately. After you make your first payment, you can expect your ID card to arrive about two or three weeks before your plan start. Be sure to carry your ID card with you at all times.
