Quality improvement results at Sharp Health Plan

The Health Plan leads in health ratings in San Diego.

At Sharp Health Plan, we’re proud to serve our community as the highest member-rated commercial health plan in San Diego. Our Quality Improvement team works in partnership with our medical groups and physicians to foster a culture of patient safety and improve health outcomes for all plan members through key preventive health care initiatives. Through these partnerships, Sharp Health Plan achieved the following, based on Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS^®) commercial data*:

• The highest-rated commercial health plan for rating of blood pressure control for members with hypertension in San Diego
• The highest-rated commercial health plan for breast cancer screenings in San Diego

These clinical measurement results are particularly significant given how common high blood pressure and breast cancer have become in the United States. Controlling high blood pressure is vital to preventing heart disease and stroke, which continue to be the nation’s leading causes of death. Early detection and screening for breast cancer, the most common cancer among women in the U.S., can reduce one’s risk of dying from breast cancer and lead to more treatment options.
