Non-contracted provider emergency admissions

We are here to support all hospitals with psychiatric and non-psychiatric emergency admissions and post-stabilization services.


In the event a Sharp Health Plan member presents to your facility with a psychiatric or non-psychiatric emergency medical condition, you must notify Sharp Health Plan. We need to know that you are admitting our members for psychiatric or non-psychiatric care; or transferring our members to the psychiatric unit of a general acute care hospital or an acute psychiatric or non-psychiatric facility that can provide the needed treatment.

Prior authorization is not required for emergency medical or psychiatric services. However, we do require prior authorization for post-stabilization care, and you must contact us prior to rendering such care.

Below is the contact information you need. These phone numbers may be accessed 24 hours a day to provide the required notification for psychiatric or non-psychiatric emergency admissions or for the required notification prior to rendering post-stabilization care for a Plan member.
