In the event a Sharp Health Plan member presents to your facility with a psychiatric or non-psychiatric emergency medical condition, you must notify Sharp Health Plan. We need to know that you are admitting our members for psychiatric or non-psychiatric
care; or transferring our members to the psychiatric unit of a general acute care hospital or an acute psychiatric or non-psychiatric facility that can provide the needed treatment.
Prior authorization is not required for emergency medical or psychiatric services. However, we do require prior authorization for post-stabilization care, and you must contact us prior to rendering such care.
