Sharp Health Plan ranks No. 3 in California and among top 100 nationally in NCQA’s private health insurance plan rankings 2014-2015

SAN DIEGO – Sharp Health Plan ranks no. 3 in California and no. 97 nationwide by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Private Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2014-2015. The rankings are based on three types of quality measures: clinical quality, consumer satisfaction and results from NCQA’s review of a health plan’s health quality processes. Overall, more than 600 private health plans across the nation were reviewed.

As an example of its commitment to members, Cook noted that Sharp Health Plan’s Customer Care center answers nine out of 10 calls in under a minute. Also, during the initial open enrollment period for Covered California the Plan held weekly community meetings to educate San Diegans about the program and their options for coverage. Nearly 11,000 San Diegans enrolled in Covered California through Sharp Health Plan this past year, representing approximately 10 percent of all county enrollees.

In the 2014 NCQA Quality Compass Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey results, Sharp Health Plan rated highest among reporting California health plans for overall rating of the health plan, customer service and how well doctors communicate.*

Sharp Health Plan has also earned the highest level Excellent Accreditation status for a health plan by NCQA, and was also one of only three health plans in the state to receive the highest rating – four out of four stars – by the Covered California exchange.
