Important billing update for 2020

New premium due date and payment enhancements


As a result of changes required by new state regulations, Sharp Health Plan is moving the due date for monthly premium payments to the 25th of the previous month. This change is effective starting with your January 2020 bill. Please note, this change is only applicable to active subscribers who pay their premiums directly to Sharp Health Plan.

What this means

  • Sharp Health Plan is moving the due date for monthly premium payments earlier. We must now receive your monthly premium payment by the 25th of the month before your coverage month begins.
  • If Sharp Health Plan does not receive your premium payment by the 25th of the month before your coverage month begins, we are required to send you a late letter. A grace period will still apply. If you make a payment after the 25th of the month, but within your grace period, you can disregard the late letter.

What you can do

We recommend using the automatic payment feature in the Sharp Health Plan payment portal. This is an easy, convenient way to avoid late payments. Here’s what to do:

  1. Log in to your payment portal account.
  2. Go to the “Automatic payments” page and click “Add automatic payment.”
  3. Select your payment method, plan and payment amount.

    Tip: Choose “balance due” as your payment amount. The portal does not automatically update your payment amount when your plan benefits or financial assistance changes, unless “balance due” is your automatic payment amount. If you choose an amount other than “balance due,” please update your automatic payment schedule regularly to avoid underpaying or overpaying.
  4. Choose start and end dates for your automatic payment schedule. Please be sure to set your start date to the 25th of the month, or sooner.

  • Check your balance due — online and over the phone
  • Pay your balance due — online and over the phone
  • Make one-time payments and automatic payments online
  • View your real-time monthly premium online
  • View your transaction history online
