Important billing updates for 2020

New state regulations for all commercial health plans, effective January 1

As a result of changes required by new state regulations, Sharp Health Plan is moving the due date for monthly premium payments to the 25th of the previous month. This change will go into effect for the January 2020 premium bills that are mailed in December.

What this means

  • Sharp Health Plan is moving the due date for premium payments earlier. We must now receive your monthly premium payment by the 25th of the month before your coverage month begins.
  • If we do not receive your payment by the 25th of the month before your coverage month begins, we are required to send you a late letter. A 30-day grace period will still apply. If you make a payment after the 25th, but within your grace period, you can disregard the late letter.
  • The regulations also require you to notify your employees each time you make a late premium payment.
  • Automatic payment users: Please ensure your automatic payments are scheduled for the 25th of the month or sooner to avoid receiving a late letter.

What you can do

Please plan to make payments before the 25th of the month before your coverage month begins. We offer several easy ways to pay your monthly premium payment:

  • Set up online automatic payments via e-check to pay your monthly balance due before the 25th
    • We accept online payments up to $8,000. If you need to pay a balance greater than $8,000, please contact your account management executive to set up a wire transfer.
  • Send your payment by mail
    • Sharp Health Plan

Please write your account ID on the check, include the coupon from your billing statement, and use separate checks if you are paying for more than one account.
  • Pay in person Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
