Broker bonus program

During this time of national emergency, we know there are thousands of people affected by income changes, reduced hours and staffing changes. Now more than ever, it’s important for people to have access to the best care. That’s why we’re excited to announce a new Special Enrollment Period Expansion IFP Broker Bonus program that will allow us to recognize you for getting more San Diegans insured with Sharp Health Plan.

How it works

We’ll pay a $50 bonus for each IFP member who is new to Sharp Health Plan — that’s up to $200 for a family of four! The bonus is on top of our regular commission structure, which is the highest in San Diego County.

The rules

  • Applies to new on- and off-exchange IFP members with an effective date of May 1 through July 1, 2020. All members must be enrolled by June 30, 2020, and must be active under their new IFP plan for at least 90 days.
  • Members who have not been enrolled in any Sharp Health Plan products in 2020 qualify as a new member.
  • Covered California® marketplace and off-exchange business is included.
  • Bonus is per new enrolled member and only includes IFP plans.
  • Bonus will be paid approximately 120 days after the effective date of coverage.
  • Participating brokers must be in good standing and appointed with a current, signed Sharp Health Plan broker agreement and valid license on file.

The not-so-fine print

  • Earned bonus is for IFP members only.
  • To be credited, a broker must be the broker of record at the time of the effective date.
  • This program is offered at the sole discretion of Sharp Health Plan and can be terminated or modified at any time and without notice. Decisions made by Sharp Health Plan will be final.
  • Brokers and consultants shall disclose to their clients all commissions and other payments made to them by Sharp Health Plan in compliance to all legal requirements.

  • Sharp Health Plan provides affordable access to Sharp HealthCare through Covered California, including Sharp Community Medical Group (SCMG), Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group and all Sharp hospitals. We also offer the only HMO access to Rady Children’s Health Network/CPMG through Covered California.
  • Sharp Health Plan has reduced their rates across their Platinum, Gold, and Silver tier plans for 2020, with significant savings on their Silver tier plans both on- and off-exchange.
  • Sharp Health Plan’s Silver 70 HMO Performance Plan is now available off-exchange.
  • Sharp Health Plan’s average rate reduction (-8.3%) was the largest decrease in the region among carriers on Covered California, with select plans reduced up to 15%.
