As a result of changes required by new state regulations, Sharp Health Plan is moving the premium due date for on- and off-exchange IFP and commercial group payments to the 25th of the previous month. This change will go into effect for the January 2020
premium bills that are mailed in December.
What this means
- Sharp Health Plan is moving the due date for premium payments earlier. We must now receive your clients’ monthly premium payments by the 25th of the month before their coverage month begins.
- Clients who use automatic payments will need to update their payment portal information. Payments must be scheduled no later than the 25th of the previous month to avoid receiving
a late notice.
- If Sharp Health Plan does not receive your client’s payment by the 25th of the month before their coverage month, we are required to send a late notice to your client. A grace period will still apply. If your client makes a payment after the 25th, but within their grace period, they can disregard the late letter.
- The regulations also require your employer group clients to notify their employees each time they make a late premium payment.
Note: Employer groups will receive a Group Service Agreement amendment in the mail from us by the end of November
reflecting these important changes and more. Upon receipt, they will need to return a signed copy of the amendment to Sharp Health Plan.
