Welcome home

We’re happy you’re part of the Sharp Health Plan family. There is nothing more important to us than making sure your health care experience is beyond your expectations. In a word, exceptional.

We want you to get the most from your plan, so you can make your health care choices with confidence and peace of mind. Let us guide you through the ins and outs of choosing a primary care physician, using emergency and urgent care and accessing Sharp Nurse Connection®, our after-hours medical advice hotline.

We can answer your questions about how your plan works, what to do if you need to see a specialist and which medications are covered. If you’re looking for a copy of the Member Handbook, or just need to print out a form, we can help you with that, too. Check the list of links to the left and click on the topic of interest. And, as always, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to pick up the phone and call Customer Care at (619) 228-2300 or toll-free at 1-800-359-2002, or send an E-mail via our Contact Us Form. Customer Care representatives are available Monday through Friday, 8 am to 6 pm. We're here to help.

Health care reform

In March 2010, Congress passed and the President signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), often referred to as health care reform.  Health care reform puts into place a number of benefit and cost sharing changes over the next few years, with certain provisions going into effect beginning October 1, 2010.

As a member, you will be happy to know that many of the requirements are already reflected in your coverage with us.  For example, the new law prohibits lifetime dollar limits for essential health benefits – since Sharp Health Plan doesn’t have these limits, no changes are needed.

We have added answers to frequently asked questions about health care reform to our FAQ section.  At Sharp Health Plan, we believe in keeping you informed.  So if you don’t see an answer for your specific question, please let us know.
